Natarajan Chandrasekaran was born in Mohanur, a small town in Tamil Nadu, India, in 1963. He completed his schooling from a local school and later went on to pursue a degree in Applied Sciences from Coimbatore Institute of Technology. He then completed his Master's in Computer Applications from Regional Engineering College, Trichy, which is now known as National Institute of Technology, Trichy.

After completing his education, Natarajan Chandrasekaran joined Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in 1987 as a software engineer. He quickly rose through the ranks and held various positions in the company. He was appointed as the CEO of TCS in 2009 and held the position till 2017.

During his tenure as the CEO, TCS became the largest IT services company in India and the third-largest globally. He led the company's expansion into new markets and diversified its offerings into new areas, such as digital services, analytics, and cloud computing.

In 2017, Natarajan Chandrasekaran was appointed as the Chairman of Tata Sons, the holding company of Tata Group, one of India's largest conglomerates. Under his leadership, Tata Group has undergone significant restructuring, including the sale of non-core businesses and the consolidation of its various entities.
